Kita 13 Kindergarten

A two-story entry and circulation link formed by intersecting walls and infilled with glass separates classrooms from administration. This entry component was intended as a reusable typology—a generic link to accommodate future kindergarten programs on six different sites. Sculptural stairs and playful wall perforations reflect the building’s role. Sliding interior walls maximize adaptability of spaces, skylights let natural light penetrate the center of the building and exterior louvers mitigate summer heat gain. 1996-97.
